Using filters to add group members to protection group

I have a client that is using roaming profiles, and we are hoping to set up DPM 2012 as the backup solution for this file server. The issue I'm having is that the drive used for the profiles is up to 11 TB (3.5 million files), and consistency checks are taking close to 24 hours to complete. Using CommVault, you have an option to create a filter, for say directories with the first letter between "a" and "d", and protect the results of that filter independently. Does DPM 2012 have functionality similar to this? Moving the profiles to new locations and/or subdirectories is not an option.
