I'm attempting to protect a deduplicated volume on a Server 2012 file server. I have SP1 for SCDPM 2012 installed, as well as Update Rollup 1 for SP1.
Replica creation and consistency checks are both failing with the error "DPM is attempting to back up or restore a deduped file, which requires Deduplication to be enabled on DPM_Server.mydomain.local, DPM_Server.mydomain.local. (ID 30241 Details: Internal error code: 0x80990AD0)"
The DPM server is 2008R2 and as far as I know, 2008R2 doesn't support deduplication. Do I need to upgrade the DPM host to Server 2012 in order to protect Server 2012 deduped volumes? It's not listed as a requirement here:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj656644.aspx
but the error message seems pretty specific.
Any suggestions before I re-install my DPM box?
